When microdosing with Psilocybin you don’t want to cause a substantial change in your mood, disposition, or mindset. You want to achieve effects that are subtle and stealth.
Preparing your psilocybin microdoses is not complicated, the most important thing is to ensure your mushrooms are completely dry. Fresh and dried magic mushrooms contain different amounts of the active ingredient, psilocybin, mushrooms are almost 80% water, so once dried the weight differs quite a lot and you will want to calculate all of your microdoses based on dried mushrooms. Different strains of mushrooms will also have different psilocybin contents and it is wise to familiarise yourself with the strain you are using, below is a table of the different strengths of different mushroom strains.

Please note that these do not represent average values for widely sampled populations. Just because a mushroom species has some samples that show high or low concentrations does not mean that all mushrooms of that type have levels matching those in this chart.
If that wasn’t enough, the stem of the mushroom contains different amounts of psilocybin compared to the cap, so when microdosing it is important to get a consistent amount each time, evenly distributed psilocybin in every dose. The best way to achieve this is to grind your mushrooms into a powder, this ensures the content is mixed evenly and you will get a consistent dose each time that you can rely on. If you were to simply eat the mushrooms whole you would be getting a different ratio of psilocybin each time, the last thing you want is to start tripping at work!
The best way to grind up your mushrooms is to use a coffee grinder, easy! First measure out how much mushrooms you want to use for your microdosing protocol and throw them into the grinder, once turned to powder, empty out your powdered mushrooms into a clean container. At this stage you have 2 options, you can simply measure out your dose out of this batch each time you microdose using your scales, or you can purchase Gelatine Capsules and make yourself some handy microdose pills that are discrete and easy to drop. For this you will need to purchase a capsule maker, these can be found for around £14 on eBay and are a worthwhile investment if you are taking your microdosing protocol seriously.
Once you have prepared your powdered mushrooms you are ready to move on to the final step.
Congratulations, you have sourced your mushrooms and prepared your doses. Hopefully you invested in a capsule maker and prepared yourself some lovely capsules so you’re ready to go every morning. If you don’t have a capsule maker, don’t worry, you will still get the full effect, you will just need to spend that extra minute each time you want to dose, but no biggie, after your first microdose you won’t care!
Hopefully, you have reviewed the protocol too and are familiar with it. Pick the day you want to begin your microdosing protocol and start a journal, take notes on how you feel, what you want to achieve from this regimen and make a habit of doing this daily. When you are ready to begin measure out roughly 0.1g of powdered mushrooms for your first dose if you weigh up to 100 lbs, or 0.25 if you weight 200 lbs+, this will be your starting dose. This dose will allow you to slowly build-up to the dose you feel is right for you. As mentioned earlier, everyone is different and you will need to find the right dose for you.
When microdosing, you want to reach the level just before you begin to “feel” like you’ve taken something. On your second dose, increase the dosage to 0.15g and on your 3rd dose go up to 0.2g, once you reach a level where you begin to feel high or you get a slight body high you have found your dose, you simply decrease your last dose slightly until the body high is reduced. Some microdosers actually enjoy riding at this level and it can be quite fun if you are happy to feel like you’ve taken something for a portion of the day. However, most want to microdose without feeling like they have taken a drug, so adjust your dose until you are just below this threshold and that is your sweet spot, continue at this dose for the remainder of your protocol.
For most people, morning is the best time for microdosing because the beneficial effects will last throughout the day, microdosing at night could interfere with sleep. You should begin to notice a difference within 45 minutes of taking your microdose on an empty stomach.
OBSERVE THE EFFECTS DAILY
You should observe the effects of your microdose throughout your protocol by taking notes in a journal daily, even on days you are not microdosing. Continue your protocol for 8 weeks, taking notes throughout the entire process. Make specific notes on your mood, social behaviours, emotions and energy. Pay attention to any emotional issues you may be suffering from, such as depression and anxiety, make notes on what changes you notice. If you suffer from any sort of addiction, it is a good idea to pay attention to cravings and how they are affected, many microdosers report microdosing has helped them kick smoking and other types of addiction.
Integrating microdosing into your daily routine should not change what you do on a normal day, you shouldn’t change your behaviour, routines and habits, simply incorporate the microdosing into your day and observe the effects. The point is to allow the microdose to improve your quality of life and help you make decisions to change things for the better, open up to it and let it do its magic.
On your first day of microdosing, it might be a good idea to take the day off from work, as well as other social commitments. It will give you the chance to observe the effects without having to be in public.
Be vigilant in observing the effects of microdosing on the two days between doses. Many people perceive increased feelings of flow, creativity, and energy the day after they microdose, as well as the day of microdosing.
It is not recommended that you microdose every day. Psilocybin can produce tolerance, so you might see diminishing returns after a few days if you do it every day. This is why the protocol is set out the way it is, to allow the body to adjust and avoid building a tolerance. Furthermore, it is not required to microdose daily, the effects last up to 48 hours, so even after your microdose, you will continue to benefit from the positive effects.
